Where do “Rubrics” lead?
The “Rubrics” link provides a discussion of rubrics and their uses. This discussion is admittedly not an assignment sheet, but it will help you craft evaluation instruments for two of our major projects: the Function of Criticism paper and the Recovering Our Senses assignment. Before each of those projects is due, you will have the opportunity to earn quiz points when you create a rubric for it.
The “Rubrics” page clearly outlines why rubrics are not the most effective instrument for evaluating advanced writing. You will be grappling with rubrics while you write your own essays to refine your sense of a writing standard. Like the “Minutes” assignments and the attendance requirements, these rubric “quizzes” will grant you the opportunity to “perform professionally.”
